Kensington and Chelsea College
Kensington and Chelsea College is a modern state of the art seven floor campus. The multi-million pound campus situated on Hortensia Road, Chelsea was designed by the Architects who transformed The Royal Opera House and The National Portrait Gallery.
Spacious Fashion Studios, an Exhibition Hall, and a vibrant Café area are among the eye-catching features students benefit from under the £15 million project. Half a million pounds has also been invested in cutting edge technology, with an open plan learning area fitted with IT stations and plasma screens to complement class room learning. Described as the biggest building project of its kind in Kensington and Chelsea College's history, the new innovative eco-friendly campus will use energy efficient lighting and have cycle bays to encourage greener travel among staff and students. Lifts will also mean fully accessible facilities for disabled students.
Wates Construction appointed Atlantic Contracts to supply and fix all the interior and bespoke joinery. This consisted of mainly primed door sets with the exception of the Ground Floor Reception area where the door sets were oak veneered, a mixture of oak veneered and painted MDF panelling to stairs and walls, spur shelving, kitchen units with stainless steel worktops, MDF and oak window boards.
The bespoke joinery consisted of the main reception desk, post room desk, oak veneered shelf units and oak veneered radiator casings.
