Chobham Academy
Atlantic Contracts Ltd were appointed by BAM to supply and fit joinery to the £32 million Chobham Academy.
Designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris architects, the 15000m2 Chobham Academy is located within the Athletes Village, which lies adjacent to the Olympic Park. During the Olympic and Paralympic Games it is to be used to provide space as support for the Athletes and Administrators.
After the Games, Chobham Academy will be used as an education campus providing integrated facilities for children from the ages of 3-18.
The project is made up of three buildings, the Main Building, Specialism Building and Phase 1 Building.
The joinery to the three buildings consisted of laminate door sets, ironmongery, MDF skirting, MDF window boards, internal timber screens and windows, Reception Desks to the Main Building, Specialism Building and Phase 1 Building, library services counter, locker surrounds with display tops, study desks, toilet cubicles, toilet vanity units.
The contract was part of the Olympic Village Project and subsequently threw up a number of challenges i.e. security and deliveries but still the contract was delivered on time and on budget to a high quality.
